Elkfest is a weekend festival that is centered around the Jackson Hole Boy Scouts annual Elk Antler Auction! The boy scouts partner with local park rangers to collect the antlers that elk’s shed every winter. With all the elk herds in the area, that is a ton of antlers to collect. The antlers are then auctioned off as fundraiser for the Boy Scout troops with 80% of the proceeds being donated to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. This annual event has been going on for 45 years and they sell around 8,369 pounds of antlers on average. Elkfest will be held on May 19th-20th this year with the antler auction being held on Saturday. There will be tons of other great things going on including vendor booths, kids activities, a free concert, casino games, silent auctions and more. The highlight of Sunday’s events is the High Noon Chili Cook-off. Come out and watch local and regional chefs compete with some amazing chili recipes and get a spoon to taste a few. This fun tradition is the perfect spring weekend getaway at Jackson Hole and will be fun for the whole family.
